The Women Entrepreneurship Platform (WEP), led by NITI Aayog is a first of its kind, unified access portal which brings together women from different parts of India to realize their entrepreneurial aspirations. As a part of WEP, UN in India and NITI Aayog have also set up an Investor Consortium (‘IC’) for Women Entrepreneurs. The consortium brings together key ecosystem stakeholders, including venture capitalists and impact investors to work with women entrepreneurs on the funding of startups, job creation, financial inclusion, and overall capacity building. Currently, the consortium has membership from several leading Impact Investors and ecosystem partners such as Aavishkaar, Ankur Capital, Stanford Angels, Tata Trusts, Omidyar Network, and WeHub. The primary focus of the Consortium is to build an enabling ecosystem for women entrepreneurs by providing adequate capacity building support and a platform to access investment from potential funders.
Going ahead a number of activities have been planned under ‘IC’:
Region-wise capacity building and matchmaking events
Speed mentoring sessions
Opportunities to pitch to impact funds
These matchmaking sessions will be hosted by UN in India and WEP and will seek participation from not only the members’ investors but also a host of service providers specializing in various business strengthening domains such as go-to-market, business model development, legal assistance, etc.
As a next step, we are inviting early-stage women-led startups to apply and avail the exciting opportunities under Investor Consortium.
For this, the applicants need to first register under WEP and then fill the application form and provide the information required. The form can be accessed here.
Deadline for receiving the application is 12th July 2019.
Please note that the workshops are being planned in a phased manner(region-wise) and we will be contacting the selected entrepreneurs accordingly.
