What? The Feminist Economist Saturday Discussion Group (FESDIG) in partnership with ILO in New Delhi are hosting an event on “Women at Work in Asia: Lessons for India’s Low Female Labour Force Participation”.
During the event, the insights of a recent volume published by the ILO on the “Transformation of Women at Work in Asia: An Unfinished Development Agenda”, edited by Dr Sher Verick and Dr Sukti Dasgupta will be presented. Findings from the book show that women across the region have contributed significantly to its spectacular growth story; yet, social norms, educational attainment and other factors limit participation. The book calls for a comprehensive approach to improve opportunities for women in the labour market as well as for the freedom to engage in paid employment.
