Mr. Narendra Mishra

Mr. Narendra Mishra took over as Programme Officer, United Nations Volunteers Programme in India in 2013. For past 15 years, Narendra has been associated with United Nations in various countries. Between 2011-13, Narendra worked as Programme Officer, Governance Unit, UNDP India on convergence and decentralized planning. Before coming back to India, Narendra, worked with UNDP Bangladesh (2008-11) on localizing MDGs in Bangladesh where he also coordinated the research and publication of Needs Assessment and Costing for Achievement of MDGs in Bangladesh. Earlier, between 2002-08, Narendra served with DPKO/United Nations Peacekeeping Mission in Kosovo where he helped set-up the institutional structure of Ministry of Environment and Spatial Planning and also advised on decentralization at Ministry of Local Self Government, Kosovo. Prior to joining United Nations, Narendra consulted with INTACH on natural heritage including water harvesting strategies, area conservation plan around Red Fort, Delhi and rural growth centers. Narendra is an environmental planner with Bachelors degree in planning from School of Panning and Architecture, Delhi and Masters Degree in Planning from Center for Environmental Planning and Technology (CEPT), Ahmedabad. He also has a Masters Degree in Public Policy and Management from Center for Financial and Management Studies (CeFIMS), SOAS, University of London.
