World Population Day 2014
To commemorate World Population Day 2014, the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) in partnership with the Office of the Registrar General & Census Commissioner (ORGI) is organizing a conference on ‘Investing in Young People in India’ on 17th July 2014 at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi.
My space-My unManifesto is a programme that aims to engage youth in political processes and make them leaders of change. Initiated by Commutiny, a youth collective and supported by UNFPA, the event on 28 March will include a panel discussion with political party members and civil society representatives on the demands of the youth ahead of the 2014 general election.
UNFPA partnered with the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare to launch the National Adolescent Health Programme on 7 Jan 2014. This was followed by a consultation on adolescent health including adolescence pregnancy, child marriage, ways of promoting a healthy lifestyle, violence and injuries in adolescence, gender equality, etc.
A workshop where adolescents discussed their health needs, learnt about reproductive, sexual and mental health, and various forms of violence was organized by UNFPA on 5-6 Jan 2014. The workshop also raised awareness among adolescents on key elements of the adolescent health strategy.
