Message from Margaret Novicki: Communications tools for entry into force of Paris Agreement on climate
The Paris Agreement on climate change will enter into force on 4 November. Following this, the 22nd Session of the Conference of Parties to the UNFCCC, known as COP22, will be held in Marrakech, Morocco from 7 to 18 November. It will also be the first Meeting of the Parties to the Paris Agreement.
4 November will be a historic day for people and the planet. Over the course of many years, all the world’s nations have agreed to act to limit global temperature rise and to strengthen resilience to the changes that are coming. The UN has played a critical role in raising awareness and mobilizing action on climate change.
Marrakech is critical for strengthening the implementation of the global climate action agenda. The Conference will focus on action items in order to achieve the priorities of the Paris Agreement, particularly with regards to emissions reduction, resilience, finance, transparency, technology transfer, migration, capacity building and loss and damages. The UN now plans to help countries to follow through on their promises towards a safer, greener and more sustainable future.
DPI has compiled a press kit/communications tool kit to help promote the entry into force of the Paris Agreement and COP22. It include key messages, overview, FAQs, social media digital cards (to be updated in the coming days), photos and other related materials to illustrate SDG13 on climate change. It can be found on the Trello board here: https://trello.com/b/6FwVvJC7. The hashtags for 4 November and COP22 are: #ParisAgreement, #COP22 and #GlobalGoals.
